How is this different from iTerm2, Warp, or Ghostty?
Those are terminals. Bashboard is the layer on top of your terminals. You do not replace iTerm2 or Warp, you keep using your shell exactly as you have it. What changes is the window management: instead of stacking tabs and windows, your sessions live as movable cards on an infinite canvas, grouped by project.
Will my zsh, oh-my-zsh, starship, or custom prompt work?
Yes. Bashboard spawns a standard PTY using your default login shell,
so your .zshrc, .bashrc, oh-my-zsh, starship
prompt, fzf, zoxide, asdf, nvm, and any other shell tooling load the
same way they do in Terminal.app or iTerm2. Bashboard does not inject
anything into your shell environment.
What macOS versions are supported?
macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia, and macOS 26 Tahoe. Apple Silicon native (M1, M2, M3, M4). Intel Macs running Sonoma or later also work. Older macOS versions are not supported because Bashboard relies on modern SwiftUI APIs.
Does it work offline? Is anything sent to a server?
Bashboard runs 100% on your Mac. No account to sign in, no telemetry, no analytics, no cloud sync. Your terminal sessions, command history, and workspace layouts never leave your machine. The only network call the app ever makes is checking for app updates via Sparkle.
What happens after my 2 years of free updates run out?
The app keeps working forever on the last version you received. You are not locked out, your data is not held hostage, the license stays valid. If you want another 2 years of new versions and bug fixes, you can renew for around $49 USD. If you do not, the version you have keeps running as long as macOS keeps booting it.
Is there a Linux or Windows version?
No, and there are no plans for one. Bashboard is built directly on AppKit and SwiftUI so the canvas can hit 60fps with many active terminal sessions at once. A cross-platform port would mean rebuilding on Electron or similar, which is exactly what Bashboard exists to avoid.
Can I use one license on my work Mac and my personal Mac?
Yes. One license activates on up to 3 Macs simultaneously. Switching machines (new MacBook, sold the old one) just means deactivating the old one and activating the new one, no support ticket needed.
How are app updates delivered?
Updates ship through Sparkle, the standard macOS update framework used by hundreds of indie Mac apps. The app checks on launch, downloads new versions in the background, and installs on the next restart. Nothing is forced, you can defer or skip a release if you want to.
